While Electronic signatures are accepted, remember the following conversion warranty outlined below. It is also a good idea to check the rental agreement signature against the driver license signature when items are picked up and attached the processed electronic credit card transaction to the rental agreement so you have everything together.
Warranty:
It is a condition to there being coverage under this endorsement in respect to loss or damage to any piece(s) of equipment insured herein, that the Insured(s), prior to the rental of any such piece(s) of equipment, shall have in their possession, a signed, valid rental agreement and the following information from identification produced by the rental customer:
- i) there is a signed, valid rental agreement;
- ii) the Insured has in their possession:
- a) the rental customer’s valid drivers licence number, and;
- b) imprint of, or processed electronic credit card transaction of a valid Visa, Mastercard, American Express or other major credit card or pre-arranged authorized written credit agreement with the customer including employee information with respect to authorized customer employees on file and verified at time of rental pickup with a valid drivers licence.
Keep in mind failure to maintain above records will result in denial of any claim for theft by conversion.
